beyond imposter syndrome

2020
This series is an exploration of the ways I seek to move beyond imposter syndrome, that pesky feeling of being not enough or revealed as a fraud. How do I move beyond imposter syndrome wall? Find a way to break, erode, or remove the barrier.

Discomfort brews inside my body: terror and excitement.  Face hot. Heart racing. Stomach tingling. At once I’m eager to walk into this new space before me — a room I’ve longed to enter. If I could just saunter through the doorway with confidence and surety. Yet, I’m terrified I’m unprepared and will stumble and fall into an abyss. Will anyone notice I don’t belong in this room?

Find another way

SOLD

I lost my way with this piece and searched for a new way to unite the layers. Sometimes that is the way during the journey too. I have to find another way, but the way is always there.

Persevere

SOLD

Imposter syndrome bubbles up when I have a new opportunity - bigger responsibility at my design job, a new medium with my art. I want these new opportunities, but I’m scared. Naming this feeling for what is–imposter syndrome–helps, even if it doesn’t eliminate it.

Saturate

SOLD

Perhaps if I saturate my thinking, my situation, my self, then imposter syndrome can not contain me. Like a flood, my strength can’t help but flow beyond the edge of the perceived embankments.
