“Treasure below”
Sakura oil markers, Bombay india ink, Neocolor watersoluble pastels, graphite, acrylic wash on BFK Rives printmaking paper

Hopes of the day may be hidden below the surface. The roots in this drawing encircle daily thoughts and grow them underground. Over time, these thoughts into dense nuggets, little pockets of intensity. Years later, when a traveler sticks her hands below the surface she finds glittering jewels.
On the base layer of this painting, I layered ink wash, jewels drawn in crayon and hand written thoughts. An overlay of acrylic and oil paint marker covers some of the bright colors and leaves other pockets exposed.
