Solace Beneath the Surface
Beneath the surface, I float in the gently moving currents. Perhaps solace is found here.

I painted this piece during the summer of 2020, the summer of Coronavirus. I imagined floating below the surface of the water, a place that is more calm and serene.
The materials are a combination of mixed media, mostly oil and cold wax medium, on panel. A cold wax finish is applied so the lush texture of the materials is visible and safe without requiring glass.
This painting exhibited in the Ashtabula Arts Center’s show “Art in Isolation” in February 2021, juried by artist Lisa Ruschman. The painting received an Honorable Mention.
