I have hiked many miles in the deserts of the American southwest around rocks like these. The rock forms that appear stacked or balanced fascinate me.
I built the warm red earth color, scratchy surface, and large presence of the rock with layers of thick paint, glazes, wax crayon, and powdered pigment.
