Not all dreams are realized. Some fade away over time and become fossils, mere traces of the original dream.
I combined some of my favorite ways to use materials in this painting. I layered paint, powdered pigment, and clear acrylic over many sessions. Periodically, I sanded the paint layers to produce a marred and scratched surface that eroded distinct color and shape. Finally, I reclaimed some of the fossil shapes by applying glazes and drawing with paint marker.
This painting is part of Susan’s solo exhibition “Potential Energy”.
