In exploring potential energy, I returned often to imagery of rocks on ledges and hillsides.
The rock in this painting is perfectly – but precariously – balanced. It appears ready to move, but it has not yet.I find it both comfortable and uncomfortable to keep my life the same.
Sometimes, I want to keep things as they are. But, I know change is inevitable and I would be despondent without it.
This painting is part of Susan’s solo exhibition “Potential Energy”.
